Fabric Blind Trends

As mentioned before there has been a roller blind revolution in window furnishings in recent years. Roller blind fabrics have appeared in a new variety of textures and designs, and roller blinds would be the least expensive product to custom manufacture, even cheaper than vertical blinds.

Roller blinds rule!, for now.

These factors combined with the ‘clean lines’ fashion has seen roller blinds installed everywhere in new multi-residential projects. For specialist ‘blind manufacturers’ roller blinds have replaced vertical blinds which had for many years dominated the cheap end of the market. Vertical blinds, long out of favour with decorators and available now only in very limited fabric options, have eventually fallen out of fashion even with the cheaper end of the market.

Roller blinds took their place. However it was soon discovered how impractical roller blinds are for large openings and especially large sliding doors.  Hence the panel blind which consists of linked full length panels of roller blind fabric 500 – 700mm width. These slide on a set of  4, 5 or 6 channels so that they can cover the opening or stack back behind one another.

Roman blinds in roller blind fabric?

Blind manufacturers also offer roman blinds in roller blind fabrics but you won’t find any in Andersons gallery of products as the fabric is generally too stiff to form nice flat folds as the blind is raised, let alone the fact that the blind has a very unfinished look with no side hems possible.

Which brings us finally to our products in these blind categories, and the reason there are two categories of blind, ‘Soft Blinds’ and ‘Hard Blinds’.  Of course we supply roller blinds in roller blind fabrics, and occasionally panel blinds too.

The Andersons way.

Roman blinds and panel blinds from Andersons however, are manufactured from Brisbane curtains fabric either coated fabrics or with sewn-in linings. Not only is the finished appearance much superior in our view for the reasons already mentioned, but the decorating options with curtain fabrics and even upholstery fabrics are much more diverse and satisfying.

Fabric prices in the case of coated fabrics are at least competitive with roller blind fabrics. Visit our window showroom at Brisbane for a complete list of the products we offer. Don’t miss out now
